Lost in Paris, found in TokyoA journey of cultural fusion

by Maja Bebber

Edwin, the progressive denim brand known for its blend of Japanese craftsmanship and European contemporary style, presents its highly anticipated Autumn/Winter 2023 collection.

Captured through the lens of renowned photographer Melchior Tersen, the latest photo shoot titled “Lost in Paris, Found in Tokyo” takes viewers on a captivating visual narrative that transcends boundaries and explores the intriguing fusion of Japanese pop culture and the unique perspective of Tersen. Tersen is a Paris based photographer who is not only a photographer but also an archivist who previously exhibited his collection of pop culture called Sous La Terre 2012 – 2015 at the Community Centre in Paris in 2021. His work has also been featured in projects for Balenciaga, M Le Monde and Dazed. Now he is applying his talents to Edwin.

In this evocative production, Paris becomes the backdrop for Tokyo’s hidden gems, as ambitious locations throughout the city are presented. From dimly lit alleys to graffiti-sprayed walls, each scene exudes an ambience of liberation and nonchalance, perfectly complemented by the models’ effortless and carefree poses. The spirit of Tokyo is celebrated through scenes of bubble tea sipping, selfie-taking, and dining with chopsticks, embracing the city’s vibrant pop culture.

As the journey unfolds, viewers are invited to immerse themselves in a tantalizing world of ambiguity and allure. From getting lost in a car park to breathtaking scenes on hills and in woods, every corner of Paris and Tokyo is explored and brought to life through this captivating shoot.
