Recently we were invited to check out the launch of Heist Bank, a new all-day hang out in Paddington.
Advertised as a ‘playground for grown-ups’ Heist specialises in three things; Beer, Pizza and Flowers. To be honest it was the flowers that intrigued me. Craft beer and wood-fire pizzas are readily available all around the capital so I was keen to investigate if flowers can genuinely enhance a bar or if they are merely a novelty. We went down to see what the fuss was about.
Firstly, you notice that the large restaurant space is an amalgamation of wooden floors providing a canvass for art-class style furniture whilst the walls are draped with paintings and scrawled with writing. Further adding to the academic vibe a laid-back common room area enhances the social aspect where you can play pool or foosball whilst sipping on a pint of craft beer.
Wandering around I discovered that the aforementioned flowers draped throughout the light and airy venue also available to buy from Heist Bank’s in-house artisan florist Botanique, who launched their first flower shop on Exmouth Market in 2015. Wandering through the never-ending venue I started to see how the flowers add to Heist’s bohemian and artsy character provided by the already scatty furniture.
Delving even further into Heist I was greeted by an impressive double height installation from graffiti artist Pure Evil and walls enwrapped with canvasses from Thierry Noir. Further down a private room in the basement is complete with karaoke, old Nintendo’s and self-service beer kegs.
At first I thought Bank would just be another pizza and beer venue in London but after visiting you quickly realise Heist Bank is so much more…. and it will take more than one visit to uncover it all! Check out the gallery showing the new space.
