The bustling, beautiful city of Beirut is gearing up to host the first edition of its eponymous design fair.
The four-day-long celebration kicks off in the Lebanese capital on September 20. According to an announcement made at the beginning of the year, the fair aims to “reveal, on an international scale, the tremendous excitement that characterises the current Lebanese design scene – a singular atmosphere that is at once global and local, in which international and regional design trends meet and influence each other”.
Organisers hope to promote the city’s role as a global cultural crossroads, in which artists and designers from Europe, the United States, the Middle East, the Gulf countries and Asia can meet, come together and share ideas. Its inaugural year will see the fair bringing together important actors, designers, brands, distributors from across the world, while celebrating the vibrancy of the Lebanese scene.
