What better way to re-introduce yourself than with an epic, sprawling 7-minute journey?
If it seems like a long time since you’ve heard from Ben Howard, that’s because it has been. It’s been four years (four!) since Howard last dropped some music, but now the drought is over.
Ben’s set to release his new album, ‘Noonday Dream’ on June 1st, but he’s given us a glimpse at what’s to come with the new single ‘A Boat To An Island On The Wall.’
And by a ‘glimpse,’ we mean a sprawling, atmospheric, 7 minute prog-rock rumination on loneliness.
Ben’s also self-produced the new album, which you can kind of tell, but it’s nice nonetheless. The new single in particular gives us Kate Bush vibes – like the second half of The Hounds of Love if Kate had swapped her trusthy synth machine for a guitar.
That’s 100% more of a compliment than you think it is.
Alongside the new tracks, Ben’s also announced a tour, including two nights at the Event Apollo in London and Edinburgh, as well as around Europe. He’s a busy bloke.
