A new exhibition is celebrating 30 years of Ellen von Unwerth’s seminal photography.
The show – aptly titled Ladyland – presents some of the acclaimed photographer’s most iconic and instantly recognisable work. From shots of supermodels such as Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss (of whom Ellen von Unwerth helped launch the careers of), to images of the Bavarian countryside, the exhibition offers an all-encompassing look at an unparalleled career.
In a male-dominated industry, Ellen von Unwerth turned the tables and used her celebrated female gaze to explore women as strong free and independent. Today, has work has never been more important – take a look at some of it below.
Ladyland is showing at London’s Opera Gallery from 4th – 18th May, 2018.
