Capturing the unique warmth of Ethiopia’s skate scene

In January 2015, Daniel Reiter visited Ethiopia for the first time.

Prior to the trip, the photographer had stumbled across the country’s unique skate scene. Upon arrival, he soon found himself in Addis Ababa, documenting the city’s skate scene and the characters that existed within it. From then, he made multiple trips to and from the country, always with his camera in hand.

The result is a series of warm and vibrant images that depict Ethiopia’s shredders in all their glory. If you’re London-based, get yourself down to Boxpark Shoreditch and check out Ethiopia Skates, an exhibition made up of Reiter’s showing until February 28.

In the meantime, take a peek at some of them below.
