Declan McKenna’s latest single ‘Humongous’ is lead by sombre vocals and the distinguishing sound of 80s pop-rock synth.
While the song is five minutes long – a good three minutes longer than most millennial’s attention spans, he keeps us captivated the whole way through.
At the four minute mark, we’re hit with a breakdown, where the music speeds up with an urgency that fits all too well with lyrics of the closing chorus and verse.
The lyrics talk about being looked down upon, and being made to feel like nothing; something many people, not just his fans, can relate to.
With the catchy melody and the nintendo64 game soundtrack-sounding tunes, ‘Humongous’ has us excited for McKenna’s debut full length album, What Do You Think About The Car? due out later in July.
