Like the Eiffel Tower, Berthillon ice cream, walks along the seine and unapologetic chain smoking, Monographie is very, very Parisian.
And, much like all of the above, they’re really rather good, too. Take, for instance, the French shirting label’s new SS18 lookbook, which exhibits a brand new haul of minimal, uber chic womenswear.
The new line – just Season Four for the brand – takes its inspiration from the “cinematic grounds and incredible lines” of Casa de Serralves, an Art Deco villa in Porto. “I haven’t been able to get this villa out of my mind for months – it embodies so much of what I intend Monographie to feel like. There’s a rigidity to it, but it’s anything but foreboding,” she explained.
“It’s calm, cinematic, but still has that beautiful rhythm and form to the design. That complexity is something I think about a lot when designing; The interplay between masculine and feminine, form and function.”
