No more ‘Hard Times’ – Paramore are back

Another year, another line up, and no, I’m not talking about Sugababes: Paramore are back.

Following their 2013 eponymous fourth studio album, bassist Jeremy Davis left the band, lawsuits ensued, and ultimately, it left the Tennessee pop punk ‘band’ functioning as a duo.

Fast forward to 2017 and founding member Zac Farro is back on drums, joining guitarist Taylor York and vocal powerhouse Hayley Williams on their latest venture.

Hard Times has been a bit of a shock for many listeners, mostly due to the stark new direction in sound. While it still sounds like a Paramore song, particularly like previous ‘poppy’ singles ‘Ain’t It Fun’ and ‘Still Into You’, you can hear the electro-pop influence of the ‘80s.

The track is fun, uplifting and ultimately a slice of summer we have all desperately been craving on these long, rainy April days.

Essentially, if you package a Fickle Friends track with some CHVRCHES-style production, you get Paramore’s latest sound, and it seems to have gone down rather well – the band have been trending worldwide since the single was released this afternoon.

The release of ‘Hard Times’ comes with news of their fifth studio album, After Laughter, slated for release on 12th May, and a UK tour in June which includes a date at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Tickets are on sale next week.
