Like a bratty ‘Chained to the Rhythm.’
Noah Cyrus seems like the perfect millennial pop star. She’s the younger sister of one of this decade’s biggest hitmakers, for one. But so far, since her debut 2 years ago, none of Noah’s solo offerings have really done her justice.
But it’s a new year and a new dawn for Noah Cyrus. With the MØ-assisted ‘We Are Fucked,’ the younger Cyrus finally finds her voice and puts down a very convincing argument for future pop supremacy.
Lyrically, the song colours in the same shades to Katy Perry’s ‘Chained to the Rhythm,’ but uses more relatable imagery and works under a better metaphor. Basically lads, we are all fucked, right?
It’s also nice to know that Swedish pop svengali Max Martin has had a big hand in the production and lyrics and is something of a return to form after a particularly rough 2017 where sure-fire hits by Katy Perry and Taylor Swift were, uh, not sure fire hits.
Basically, this is very good song by a very good pop star who’s finally found her feet and we should be very excited about that.
