What’s the most creative thing you’ve ever made out of paper?
I used to have a friends who would make swans out of bus tickets. I thought it was literally – literally – the most impressive artistic feat I’d ever witnessed in the flesh. This wasn’t just origami – this was a radical artistic statement. ‘£4.50? For a return? To Nottingham??? Well, to that – and your vulgar, neoliberal commodification of movement, I say this: Swan.’
Anyhow, no matter how good it was (or wasn’t), it doesn’t really compare to G. F. Smith’s ‘Paper City’.
As part of Hull’s UK City of Culture of 2017 programme, the British paper company have invited 8 leading artists and creatives to work with their vast range of different papers to contribute towards a variety of beautiful installations located across Hull’s city centre. Those participating include: Made Thought, Max Lamb, Bethan Laura Wood, Richard Woods, Joanna Sands, Lazerian, Adam Holloway and Jacqui Poncele.
