You know when you meet somebody and you just think, ‘they’re a cool guy’? If Free Money’s, ‘I Want In’, were a person, that’s how your introduction would go.
Instantly likeable, the latest track has all of the energy of a shaken up can of pop that’s cracked open to explode. Subconsciously penned during the Brexit discussions, you can tell that a cage has been rattled and a fire ignited.
From the feverish hook that hooligans its name, to the tongue out-and-wagging beats, to the feel good rock n roll guitar, a punk attitude runs throughout.
The East London quartet didn’t put it all together themselves, however. After meeting the lads behind Buff Records; Dan White (Tribes), Matt Twaites (Electric Soft Parade) and Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets) in a pub, they decided to work together and hatched the plan to live stream the process for two days on Facebook. Inviting fans’ creative input, the end result is this revved-up spitball of a track that breaks out a sweat.
Judging by this track, Free Money is not a scam. They deliver what they set out to. Feel good pub anthems with a kick.
