When Hailee Ritcey penned a note to her favourite band, to say thanks for the music that bought she and her girlfriend together, she didn’t quite expect what happened next.
Electro-pop trio, A R I Z O N A, decided to dedicate something special to the young couple, and their latest video for ‘Electric Touch’ tells their story.
Slick vocals caress like a loved ones hand touching your skin, and tangible electronic melodies elevate them to new heights. Taking their song title, each tropical beat electrocutes with the same radiation.
It’s an exciting track, that manages to be celebratory and jubilant, and not sacrifice the very intimacy that lies at the spine. In fact, it runs down it with a slight and subtle groove.
Proving that true love always prevails, the video is intensely moving. Starring the true-life Michigan couple, we learn the true meaning behind the scrawled note.
As A R I Z O N A sing, ‘take all your pain, take all of the emotions that you feel give them all to me’, the warm visuals give them new context. For Hailee, the video was her coming out to the world and introducing her girlfriend.
Taking to social media, she posted the video:
“For a long time this day has filled me with so much fear and anxiety. I’ve never been really sure what I would say, why I felt like I needed to post, or why it even mattered at all. It’s taken me a long time to come to this level of confidence with myself and with my relationship. I have been so lucky to have wonderful family and friends that have really helped me to this point. And I’ve realized the people that truly love and care about you always will, regardless. So a few months ago Carly and I took a trip to Seattle to see one of our favorite bands. Because their music means so much to us I decided to reach out to them. I knew it was a long shot to even get a response but then they took it one step further. They asked us to tell our story through their music. So this is my girlfriend. And this is A R I Z O N A. Thank you A R I Z O N A for creating this incredible opportunity for us and thank you for your music. So much love!”
Revealing their debut album Gallery (May 19), A R I Z O N A are set to deliver more of their lush melodic soundscapes.
‘Electric Touch’ is a song to remember. A song to remind you that sometimes, all you need is a damn good song.
