TGC (The Green Children) are Milla Sunde and Marlow Bevan, the familiar Norwegian/English outfit who have remixed and collaborated with a number of notable artists such as Paul Oakenfold, Moguai and Foster The People. Known for their atmospheric alternative pop, TGC’s latest single ‘Symbiotic’ is set to be delivered on the 17th of July, via Illuminated City, as the release of their third album approaches.
Picking up where the duo’s previous hits ‘Rooms’ and ‘ECG’ left off, ‘Symbiotic’ is a characteristically dreamy pop number featuring airy synth textures, crisp electronic percussion and a considerable use of reverb that gives the track a sense of free space. Sunde’s versatile vocal capabilities are on full display as she moves between registers and delivers her seductive lines about an instant connection between two complete strangers. Bevan and Sunde began writing ‘Symbiotic’ while in sunny Spain and the gradual progression of the track reflects this, painting a picture of pool side mornings, midday walks and sundowners on the beach flowing into sultry evenings spent drinking and dancing the night away.
‘Symbiotic’ eases out with a warm Latin bongo rhythm and rolling steel drums, a fitting conclusion to track that is inspired by the dream of a perfect holiday romance.
Sunde presents the listener with the following insight into the title and inspiration behind TGC’s latest offering: “Have you ever felt drawn to a stranger with such intensity that all you want to do is melt together like two symbiotic creatures? If so, you may have stumbled upon a soulmate.”
