Parisian trio Oracle Sisters sweep us away from 2020 and into soothing psychedelia with their new video for ‘High Moon’. Like a grown-up Alice in Wonderland, the film follows vocalist Julia Johansen into a subconscious daydream as the song acts as an abstract lullaby offering sonic escape from the lockdown lifestyle.
The video mirrors the track’s absorbing progression, embracing the mystique of a psychedelic trip into the soul while hinting at the darker side of the ego with frequent shifts in perspective, light and location. Director Jade de Brito appears in the video to administer the psychotropic brew that inspires the dream, acting as a spiritual guide into the antipodes of the mind. Ultimately, thankfully, peace seems to be found.
This captivating single was lifted from Oracle Sisters’ evocative debut EP, Paris I, released earlier this year as an introduction to a band whose sound perfectly describes the nostalgia for the time “before all this happened”. Making music that it both soothing and compelling, the trio’s ethereal rock transports you away from reality into their world of heartbreak, sensuality and everything in between. Coming up on 2nd December is ‘The Dandelion’, also from Paris II, which we will be groovin’ to whilst we await their next project currently in the making…
