For the inaugural edition of tracks of tomorrow, we’ve got ten must listens from the likes of Megan Thee Stallion and Tierra Whack as well as hot new collaborations between Miley and Dua, NSG and Unknown T as well as Kali Uchis and PARTYNEXTDOOR. It’s a vibe-filled selection so press play below now…
First up we’ve got the latest sneak peek at Miley Cyrus’ long awaited new album, and this time she’s brought Dua Lipa along with her. A little taste of what’s to come on Plastic Hearts, set to be a more rock ‘n’ roll endeavour for the Tennessee native, ‘Prisoner’ is a single full of decadence and debauchery, just the way we like it. Warning, you’ll be singing this one in the shower for the foreseeable.
A raw version of the hottest of all Hot Girls, ‘Circles’ by Megan Thee Stallion – along with the rest of her impressive album – is one big f**k you to her abusive ex, Tory Lanez, after he shot at her in July earlier this year. A tumultuous few years, which saw her lose her mother as well as suffering from the shooting and the very public aftermath, this track is an honest stream-of-consciousness. Set over a sample of ‘Holding You Down (Goin’ in Circles)’ by Jazmine Sullivan, ‘Circles’ and the entire Good News album are must listens.
Following on from the rapper’s solo single ‘Dora’ earlier this year, Tierra Whack has dropped two new versatile songs. Our favourite has to be ‘Peppers and Onions’, a playful melodic track centred around a whistling tune and percussive tongue-clicking. Blending the high-spirited sound with emotive lyrics on the pressures of fame and life in 2020, this new song ever proves Tierra Whack’s unparalleled musical talent.
‘Blue Gene’ introduces newcomer ADIV onto our radar, a Southern Californian cool kid with a whole lot to offer. Bringing elements of Nigerian aesthetics along with his LA chill, this debut track off his coming soon project has our ears pricked and ready for more. Take a listen for yourself and feel the sunshine soak in from across the Atlantic.
Puerto Rican-born and Texas raised, iann dior’s unique style is just the new sound we need right now. Having climbed the charts earlier this year with the 24KGoldn collab ‘Mood’, it’s been one hell of a breakthrough year for the 21-year-old rapper, singer and songwriter. His latest endeavour, ‘Holding On’, is an evocative tale of a lost love sung and rapped over dynamic electric guitar.
After we took a first listen to Salem Ilese’s TikTok smash hit ‘Mad At Disney’ this summer, we couldn’t wait to hear what was coming next – and it was worth the wait. Another ’99 born star bursting with potential, Salem’s ‘Coke & Mentos’ is another blissful pop anthem f0r the teens to make up a viral dance to, and we couldn’t love it any more.
A blues-y and sensual new song from the duo, VanJess’ ‘Slow Down’ is a soulful R&B creation just as captivating as their enchanting harmonies always are. Growing up between Lagos and California, the sisters have blended their diverse tastes and influences into a captivating fusion of sounds which took the world by storm after their 2018 debut album Silk Canvas. This sweet new slow jam will get you groovin’ even in lockdown, so press play below now.
Kicking the energy up a notch, NSG and Unknown T’s tongue-in-cheek ode to actress Kate Winslet is a charismatic collaboration between the UK collective and the East London rapper. Paying homage to the star of Titanic, the single’s witty lyrics, choppy production and jazzy melody make for a must listen so take a listen here now.
Dropping her new work this week is Kali Uchis, with Sin Miedo (Del Amor Y Otros Demonios), her second album but first full project in Spanish. Inspired by “many genres that made my childhood”, the Colombian-American singer has created an innovative follow up to the 2018 Isolation. All of it is a must-play, but this week we’re spotlighting ‘fue mejor’, a sultry collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR.
Seeing as everyone’s already getting their Christmas trees up and whipping out the eggnog, it only seems fitting to include girl in red’s ‘two queens in a king sized bed’. An alternative xmas track, it features a classic jingling bell set against her ethereal voice, ready to get even the most grinchiest of grinches in a wintery mood.
