JADEN SAYSBYE

by Alex Brzezicka

“I was sad when I made this song, but I’m happy it’s out. Welcome to CTV3, welcome to trippy summer. It was the time of our lives.”

It’s not easy to name any other artist who so successfully does what for this 22-year-old wunderkind is just an everyday occurrence: acting, songwriting, directing, designing and activism. Somehow in between all these consuming pursuits, he also gets to be young. To fool around with friends. To travel. To go through heartbreak and write a song about it.

After the skyrocketing success of his last project ‘CTV3: Cool Tape Vol.3’, Jaden serves us a brand new track so we won’t have to loop ‘Cabin Fever’ forever. ‘BYE’ released on MSFTS MUSIC/Roc Nation is the first single announcing his upcoming album ‘CTV3 Day Trippers Edition’. If that’s not exciting enough, the new project is packed with a variety of big-shot names like Justin Bieber, Joey Badass, Babe Rainbow and ¿Téo? and produced by Lido (Ariana Grande, Halsey, Chance The Rapper).

‘BYE’, with a watercolours-dipped visualizer for it, got the timing of its release on point. Not only it dropped on the first day of summer but has the potential to conquer all the mainstream charts. It’ll become your favourite companion on those breezy warm nights when either you long for lost love or look forward to a fresh fling. No matter which one it will be, Jaden sympathizes with anyone bouncing between feverish nostalgia and sensation-seeking as the lyrics go ‘Laying down in my bed at 4 a.m we get up (Let’s get up, we’re forever)/ Let’s take a drive, feel alive, let’s just be together (Us together nothing’s better)’. Without trying to capture fleeting feelings into unnecessarily overcoloured metaphors, he paints his sonic landscape with simple, straight from the heart, words. Get ready for the closure and hop on the road ahead in search of new kicks, he seems to suggest. “I was sad when I made this song, but I’m happy it’s out. Welcome to CTV3, welcome to trippy summer. It was the time of our lives,” Jaden says in the statement.

If our high hopes will come true and, with the dusk of the pandemic, Summer 2021 will transform into a long-awaited Summer of Love 2.0, we will need a perfect playlist to go with it. Jaden has nailed it once and by all means, he’s destined to repeat the past. While saying farewell to all that disappointed us recently with ‘BYE’, we anticipate better things to come. One of them will definitely be Jaden’s new album.
