Since his breakout hit ‘Location’ in 2016, Khalid’s position on the music scene has been uninterrupted, with each new release spurring on his vast following. This second collaboration with Disclosure is no different. Following the success of ‘Talk’ in 2019, ‘Know Your Worth’, released in February of this year, has already garnered 75m streams on Spotify.
The ‘Know Your Worth’ video, directed by Daniel Russel, perfectly embodies the Pop Prodigy’s signature sound. With neon lights and synchronised dancing, the video allows Khalid’s soft voice to take centre stage. The positivity of the house-party style scene is reflective of his lyrics, championing us to not settle for less than we are worth. The inclusivity of the video also mirrors the sentiment of the self-love anthem.
In this time of trepidation, the video can serve as a slice of escapism, until we ourselves can go and dance in a club with all of our friends in ‘80s shell suits without any form of social distancing. But for now, we can watch the video, and listen to Khalid when he says “Gotta keep your head up.”
