Joy Club host a vogue tutorial featuring the Queens from Dalston Superstore and Rupals Drag Race’s Blu Hydrangea.
Electronic duo Joy Club have released the official dance video for their insatiable new single In The Night, proving that even confined to our bedrooms, you can still throw some glitter in the air and still vogue the night away.
Enlisting the skills of Blu Hydrangea of Ru Paul’s Drag Race U.K., and queens from London’s infamous Dalton Superstore, the video showcases what is often one of the best parts of the night… getting ready for it all.
Along with an infectious beat fit for a Eurovision (winning) entry, the video is classically camp, seeing various characters in the daytime lazing around in dressing gowns, sipping tea and sliding down the stairs backwards before the creativity starts to bite. Bedsheets are thrown on windows and lights are installed as participants get crafty, leading to a Vogue tutorial you can replicate at home.
We emerge into a new state of energy as the cast, including Blu, try to replicate the dance and let themselves loosen up into the night, throwing on more make-up and employing fog machines and wig tosses; blink twice.
In The Night was released pre-lockdown on Virgin EMI, initially garnering 5 million combined streams and bolting into the Spotify U.K. Top 40 Viral Charts, with support from Radio 1, Kiss Dance, and MTV.
Joy Club formed less than a year ago, and have debuted strong with a glossy rework of Martin Solveig’s Romeo & Juliet. Openness and inclusivity are championed with flying colours, and the dance video for In The Night is a love letter to a dance floor that, whilst gathering dust currently, is going to be flooded with positive energy when the time comes again.
Keep an eye on Joy Club, and let us know when you’ve learnt the dance moves… we reckon we could take you on.
