The Champion collaboration comes in the form of Rick Owen’s signature silhouettes branded with tonal versions of the renowned logo in Black, White and Grey.
Fashion legend Rick Owens has announced the launch of his latest SS20 collection at the Palais De Tokyo in Paris, which includes a collaboration with Athleisure giant, Champion.
The collection, named after his mother’s maiden name, TECUATL, embraces Owen’s Mexican heritage and takes a stand against the US President’s fixation on a boarder wall.
“My mother and I learned English together when she started taking me to nursery school, and my father worked in the Porterville Public Court System as a translator for the Mexican migrant farm workers that were a major part of the San Joaquin agricultural industry,” Owen explained.
The collection also features a capsule of t-shirts, sweaters and windbreakers, all liberally emblazoned with the signature branding too.
“I remember my cousins wearing Champion t-shirts and shorts when we used to visit the family in Mexico in the seventies. In this project here I have turned those traditional athletic clothes into togas, loincloths and underbriefs,” he explained.
