Your new Netflix-in-bed uniform.
The ghoulish spectre of 2020 has withered, wilted and finally dried-up altogether, twelve months willed out of existence by the world’s deep-fried mind. 2021, though, granted, hasn’t got onto the finest start – many of us are back in lockdown, curfew and quarantine, reinstalling Zoom and ‘supporting local business’ (ordering a lot of takeaway).
Here’s something to cheer us up, though – legendary Japanese streetwear label Bathing Ape has teamed up with Russell Athletic for a new FW20 wardrobe that’s landing just in the nick of time. Inspired by the golden-toothed days of hip-hop, slouchy fits go back-to-back with camo motifs and all-American hues.

All the usual culprits are present, from hoodies to sweatshirts, long-sleeved tees to oversized trackies. Usually, we’d be keen to hit the skatepark with this kind of gear, but the collection luckily doubles-up as perfect stay-at-home sofa fodder, making it just as good for kickflipping as it kicking around the house, flipping pancakes.
A one-off code of ‘0923’ finishes everything off, splicing together the birth years of both brands, 1902 and 1993 (which makes Russell Athletic pretty cool for a Great Grandad). It’s a simple but savvy first collab, showing that a heritage label and a contemporary brand can come together for something that’s a future classic.
Oh, and a quick side note – let us know if you have a spare Netflix log-in, yeah?
