Napapijri’s Skidoo Jacket, aside from having one of the finest garment names we can think of, is one of those classic pieces that you’re as likely to see on the streets as you are the slopes.
Kitted out with a toggle-in waist, generous kangaroo pocket and waterproof outer, it’s a functional nineties unit of a coat. While we’re here, save this one for a pub quiz – although Napapijri’s name is Finnish, its logo the Danish flag and its spellout based on the North Pole, it’s actually from Milan. Mad, right?
Anyway, this time they’re heading on over to Amsterdam, linking-up with local legends Patta for a new capsule. It’s part of a new series of collaborations, following on from their eighth and final collaboration with Martine Rose, which saw pieces inspired by Scarface and classic Italian tailoring. This time around, it’s all about hybridising urban landscapes and explorers’ havens, creating an ensemble made for concrete jungles, urban parks and city beaches.
Naturally, the aforementioned Skidoo is the star here, emblazoned with Patta’s lockup, an adjustable clipped hood and trademark Napa toggle. Finished in all-black, it’s an all-purpose, all-weather juggernaut, ready to take on any sort of precipitation. Throw it over the Short Sleeve Tee, printed with oversized logos stretched to the seams of the tee, making for a statement staple, or the Long Sleeve tee, sleeker and cosier.
It’s not going to set the world on fire, but that’s the point – sometimes, you need to keep it simple and functional, especially in the dreaded between-season liminality where you can be confronted by pretty much any weather front going. Slide on the updated Skidoo, beat the city drizzle and give yourself a much deserved Patta on the back.
The Napa x Patta capsule is available here from October 2.
