It’s September and we’re talking about sandals. LG had it right – life’s good, huh? Sure, the warm weather is fading more quickly than a barber in a hurry, but we’re clinging on to every single ray of sun, every last nanogram of Vitamin D we can savour, so we’re talking about sandals, thank you very much! Specifically, these Melissa and Lazy Oaf ones.
The first time the Brazilian footwear brand went toe-to-toe with Lazy Oaf, we were obsessed. Like all good things in life, they were inspired by the nineties, sprinkling a sparkle of ‘oafness’ onto multi-coloured jelly shoes. Now, they’re back for round two, kitted out with a cute, miniature range of mules featuring squared-toe transparent heels made of 100% recyclable plastic.
Three colourways are on offer – green, pink and black – each splattered with contrasting patterns that match the brand’s current ‘Lazy Waves’ collection. It’s more psychedelia and flora, seeing Oaf’s trademark daisy motif woozily printed onto the sandal’s straps.
Since, collectively as a world, we’ve all decided that socks and sandals are actually OK and very, very comfy, the collaboration also sees the release of three new pairs of socks. Miso-mashed and mesh, they’re made to be worn over your leggings and inside your mules for the chillier months, allowing for ultra comfort, cosiness and colour-clashing.
Don’t just take our word for it – here’s what Lazy Oaf’s creative lead Shirley Webb had to say: “We went back into the amazing and extensive Melissa archive for our second collaboration, and fell in love with their nostalgic block-heeled mule, playing with our flower motifs as a nod to our first collaboration.”
