Stop recoiling, spring is here - and we’re ready to kit you out in some fresh pieces.
Spring has sprung, slung us some sun, and possibly stung us with our first sting. We’ll forgive it, though – there’s nothing more exciting than catching some early rays and feeling like, for the first time in a while, we’re not about to start hyperventilating from hyperthermia. Plus, a new meteorological season promises a new season of fashion, a good time to give your wardrobe a (resaleable!) spring clean and grab a few SS22 staples to feel refreshed.
It’s been a hot second, but we’re back with the latest selects to see in the new Aries moon. We’ve packed this edition with some of our favorite, go-to brands – from MCQ to MSCHF – so let’s rock, roll and read on.
Drop dead…gorgeous! We’re mega fans of the alt-fashion label run by Oli Sykes, head honcho of Bring Me The Horizon and an outrageously prolific creative. The brand’s latest collection, Running From My Demon, celebrates the power of staying active – and looking cool while you’re at it. Inspired by Sykes’ own journey towards abstinence, its oversized punky tees, metalhead tanks and graffiti-print shirts are complemented by yoga mats, gym bags and ‘hydration flasks’ (is that a thing?)
Get…the Sentinel Active Shorts, ready to be worn by twenty-one-year-old Twenty One Pilots fans at Pilates.
Grow Up! No, we’re not throwing you some needless shade – instead, it’s the name of MCQ’s current ‘icon’ (running motif) inspired by all things veg and playing with fauna, flora and foraging. Inspired by the rise of self-sufficiency, quilting and patchwork are used for parkas taking cues from workwear silhouettes, while Scout badges are emblazoned onto shirting, to create a nostalgic, make-and-mend mood. We’re super impressed to see the use of novel, planet-friendly fabrics too, including plant-based leathers – and what’s more romantic and spring-ready than flower-pressed prints?
Get…the Ramble On Shirt, cut from Lyocell and featuring a deliciously mood-boosting applique.
Ready for a ramble? We’re not talking about us waffling on about clothes, but going for a long wander in the countryside, kitted-out in some Gorpcore garms. If you do, you’re in luck: Timberland have just dropped the Solar Wave Hiking Shoe, featuring hiking-influenced lugs and a sawtooth midsection to keep the drip levels high but the slip levels low. Never, ever, fall in the mud again. Probably.
Get…the Solar Wave Hiking Boot in Beige, or two, most likely.
Korean streetwear brand MSCHF just joined forces with artists Lim Kim, SUMIN and JIBIN (Y2K92) for a new song titled ‘SOOM’, soundtracking the SS22 collection. Realtree style camo kicks things off, applied to utilitarian raincoats, while tank tops – this season’s hottest piece – are cut asymmetrically with the brand’s geometric icon. Smarter pieces include a metal clasp closure coat and overcut button-down dress, made for layering-up with the collection’s cleverly sleek trackpants and Valentino-pink branded backpacks. It’s switched-on streetwear made for savvy mavericks, sleek and chic without ever feeling tryhard – plus, they have a new drop every Monday, so it’s a bit of beauty for hypebeasts.
Get…the Rhombus Backpack in Pink for a preppy, old-school-Kanye mood.
